It's been a whirl-wind over the last few months! I didn't even post about Therese's birthday! She turned 2 on July 21 so we had a swimming party at my parent's house. My brother and his wife had had their sweet, baby boy on August 26 after a long and complicated pregnancy. She spent 5.5 weeks in the hospital and finally gave birth by c-section. My younger brother got leave from the Army on his way to Korea, so he was home for a short visit and got to be here for my nephew's birth. We've been working non-stop on the house to get it ready for the baby-pulling wallpaper, texturing the wall, painting, buying a bed and mattress and now on to the organizing!! My sister threw me a small baby shower this month and we've had some other fundraising events for her adoption as well. Aaron received an amazing opportunity with work but it's unfortunately pulled him away from us for 9 out of the last 14 days, including five 24 hour shifts. Therese also started potty training herself last Tuesday (Sept. 13th) so that's been quite the event. This was all on top of the normal day-to-day stuff, family get-togethers, playdates, OB appointments and the wonderful toddler tantrums! Whew!! Glad it's starting to slow down and we'll be heading out of town for a few days of relaxation.
I wanted to share some pics of what Therese has been up to lately along with some of the funny phrases she's been saying.
-While eating lunch one day, she scooped her cottage cheese into her juice, began stirring it around and exclaimed, "Look! I make pancakes!"
-While swimming she said, "Look at me! I'm kicking...like a turtle!"
-We were dancing to Justin Bieber one day and she started chanting, "Go Mama! Go Mama!"
-Justin Bieber's "One Time" starts out with him singing, "Aye. Aye. Aye. Aye. " Therese repeats it, then says, "No, not B. It's A!"
-On one of her first attempts at the potty this week, she pushed and grunted, but nothing came out. She ran away, dropped her head and said, "Oh my gosh." I asked her what was wrong, to which she replied, "I sad." Then I asked her if she was sad because she didn't go potty and she said, "Yeah."
-Coming home from my parent's house, she asked for a bottle. I told her I didn't have one. She then says, "Uh...a drink?" "Sure," I said and handed her sippy with water in it back to her. She then says, "Pink juice? How 'bout pink juice?" What do you think this is kiddo, a restaurant??
-After one of her accomplishments on the potty, my mom came in clapping for her and telling her good job. She then began to bow, repeating "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
-She fell down yesterday and exclaimed, "Ow! Dat hurt my butt!"
-Therese likes to play a tickle game. She wiggles her fingers, creeps up to you and says, "I go get you."
-Tonight I said to Therese, "I love you." She grinned at me and said, "No, I love you more." I then said, "No, I love you the mostest," to which she replied, "Yeah."
-I bought her new shoes and after I tried them on her, she exclaimed, "I like 'em! I like 'em!"
-Whenever she does anything that she wants your attention for, she'll say, "Look at me!"
-Therese will walk into a room and ask, "What's goin' on here guys?"
-When you tell her we're going to do something or eat something she likes, she exclaims, "It's what I've been waiting for!"
-Whenever she hears a firetruck, airplane, motorcycle or any noise for that matter, she will put her index finger on her cheek and ask, "Do you hear dat?"
Happy birthday Therese!
