Jewelry for Isaac

By now you may have noticed the link on the right hand side of the blog that says, "Help Bring Isaac Home." This is the sweet little boy that my brother-in-law Jason and sister-in-law Jaime have committed to adopting. Isaac lives in East Europe and has down syndrome. Unfortunately for children like him, they are often cast away and put in baby houses where they spend their first few years of life in a crib. Upon turning 4, they are moved from the baby houses and put into adult mental institutions, where they are often drugged, mistreated and in the worst case, don't survive.

To help raise money to bring this little angel home, I have made jewelry sets that I am selling. Each bead is crafted from cardstock-painted, cut, hand-rolled, glazed and strung by me. I have five available sets currently, which include a necklace and bracelet. I'm selling them for $35 which includes shipping. After paying for the shipping, 100% of the profits will go to Isaac's account. If I see you on a regular basis and don't have to ship the item, then I'm asking $30 for the set. I'm not able to take custom orders at this time because I'm busy getting my house ready for our next baby. If you're interested in buying any that are already available, email me at dohsaydat@gmail.com or make a comment on the blog with the name of the set you desire. If you can't give $30 but would still like to purchase a set, then send me a message too. I am willing to work with you.

You can also make direct donations to Isaac's Fund through Reece's Rainbow which is tax deductible. Visit the link here to donate to Reece's Rainbow. And if you'd like to follow this family's journey, you can do so by visiting their blog here.

Happy birthday Therese!

Yesterday we celebrated Therese's second birthday!! It was bittersweet. I'm so thankful for having her in our lives for 2 years and proud of the little person she is becoming, but sad knowing she will never be like this again. My little baby is growing up. We celebrated by taking her out to dinner then over to Chick-fil-a to play on the playground and get some icecream. We were in luck because they happened to be having a free icecream social! We grabbed a cup, got it filled with icecream and let her decorate with all the fixings like gummy bears and M&M's. Saturday we'll be celebrating with the family at my parent's house for a pool party!

It's hard to put into words just how we feel about our girl, the amazing blessing that she is, but I will try for document's sake. I want to remember just how she was at this age.

The first thing about Therese, is she brings so much joy to everything around her. From the day she started smiling, she hasn't stopped. She is such a happy child, laughing, smiling and goofing off constantly! She makes us smile all day. She's extremely social and makes friends wherever she goes, even in the Walmart!

She's very detailed. She picks up on the most subtle of things, very determined and knows what she wants. But she also has the most tender heart. She doles out hugs, kisses and "I love you's" all the time. And if she thinks she's done something wrong, she says, "I sorry mama." She feels genuine remorse. She's also not afraid to ask for help. When she struggles, we often hear, "Ma help you." And when someone sneezes, coughs or blows their nose, she asks, "Are you okay?"

She also loves to sing, dance and make music! I really think she has a knack for it. Perhaps I am just biased because I'm "Mom," but this kid has got some talent! She will hear music everywhere, even in a firetruck engine, and start moving. She can tap her foot with us to the beat of music and mimics dance moves that she sees on tv shows like So You Think You Can Dance and her favorite...The Fresh Beat Band!

Happy birthday to my sweet girl!
